Viseon Has 1st Case of Hubble AV System in Neurosurgery

Hubble AV combines aspiration, illumination, and advanced 4K digital visualization into one disposable instrument.

Viseon announced the first clinical use of its Hubble AV system, marking the company’s expansion into the neurosurgery market.

Hubble AV combines aspiration, illumination, and advanced 4K digital visualization into one disposable instrument. It’s designed to integrate into operating room equipment, offering enhanced surgical access and visualization for open and minimally invasive procedures.

The system has low-profile 8 Fr and 12 Fr options and reduces tissue manipulation compared to traditional cannula-based camera technologies, according to Viseon. Its imaging system tracks the device’s distal tip, removing the need for scope-based image repositioning.

The first Hubble AV case was performed by Dr. Gabriel Zada, Professor of Neurological Surgery and Surgical Director of the USC Brain Tumor Center. It was a right frontal craniotomy for a tumor resection.

“Neurosurgeons need minimally invasive solutions that improve visualization, efficiency and extent of resection for complex cranial pathology,” said Dr. Zada. “Hubble AV seamlessly combines 4K visualization with lighting and graded suction into a single disposable device for rapid plug-and-play use for intracranial hematomas and tumors. Hubble AV provided dynamic visualization and illumination in a deep cavity and we achieved a complete evacuation of the hemorrhage and tumor.”

The system enables magnified, real-time 4K visualization on operating room monitors so the whole surgical team can observe procedures with clarity. Its built-in 4K digital recording facilitates post-op review, advanced training, patient education, and integration with mixed reality solutions, robotic-assisted surgery, AI surgical support, and remote proctoring.

Adding to Hubble AV, Viseon is developing a series of neurosurgery devices to expand use of its technology to treat a range of conditions.
